聯合國發起10億美元賑災活動，以協助土耳其強震災民。這場地震造成數萬人喪生，還有數百萬人亟需援助。
法新社報導，聯合國秘書長古特瑞斯（Antonio Guterres）在聲明中說，這筆資金將為520萬人提供為期3個月的人道救濟。

他說，這筆錢「能讓救援組織迅速擴大重要的援助工作」，包括在食品安全、保護、教育、供水和住所等方面。
古特瑞斯說：「需求很龐大，民眾正在受苦，沒有時間可浪費了。」

土耳其東南部2月6日發生規模7.8強震，造成超過3萬5000人喪生，鄰國敘利亞也有數千人死亡。
土耳其政府表示，境內有超過900萬人直接受到這場災難的影響。
災民當中有許多敘利亞難民。聯合國統計，有174萬敘利亞人以臨時難民保護身分暫居土耳其11個受災省分。
聯合國14日也發起3.97億美元的賑災活動，以幫助敘利亞災民。
