CurseForge Launches A New API For The Community
Overwolf The guild for creators of in-game games, has released a new tool for mod creators to use in games like Minecraft, World of Warcraft and many more the CurseForge API. This program allows modders to distribute their mods directly over the internet. It also offers a number of possibilities for gaming communities to share their content online.
This new system will allow creators more control over their work, particularly when it comes to third-party distribution of their creations. Authors are now able to give their consent over whether they want to allow distribution outside of the CurseForge system, giving them to control how their content is distributed, and to ensure the protection of their mods using the Authors Rewards Points system.
It's not just modders who can use the CurseForge API to their advantage. The new terms of service agreement opens up the possibilities for users who can utilize the system and bring gaming community projects like Discord bots, mod managers, and more into the community which will allow the system to expand and help gamers in a variety of ways.
CurseForge API already approves 217 applications, including 42 bots and 25 analytics tools. There are also nine general modding tools and 11 modpack creation tools. The list is, of course, growing exponentially as more users become familiar with the software. You can apply to the platform here. Download for free
Power to the players
What does this mean for players then? Overwolf has created a standalone version of CurseForge to meet the demands of players. The Windows standalone version, currently in alpha, is built on Electron, and allows players to download and manage mods, add-ons and more in one place. The currently in alpha versions of the standalone client supports World of Warcraft, with plans to include support for Minecraft and other games in the near future.
Linux users can download an alpha version the application for their operating system, which currently only supports World of Warcraft. This beta version is still in its early stages, so expect changes and improvements to be made in the near future. If you have any questions or feedback, be sure to join the CurseForge Discord server and share your thoughts.
The app offers a variety of advantages for creators and players alike. It is attractive and has a simplified layout, which allows users to keep all of your mods and add-ons within one convenient location. Mod authors get 70 percent of the app's revenues this makes it a great method to help creators, regardless of whether you are using the free version the app or the subscription-based ad-free version.
There's never a better time to get into modding your games. There are hundreds of mods that are available on the CurseForge API that can bring new dimension to your games, ranging from graphical improvements to entirely new gameplay concepts. One of the most popular Minecraft mods available on CurseForge is RLCraft, a modpack designed to bring a hardcore semi-realism survival element to the game.
The Pixelmon Mod transforms Minecraft into an exciting, monster-catching Pokemon experience. This pack adds capture, battle and more, using mods that are created by users. You don't have the time to go through all the available mods and choose which you want to use. Download All the Mods 6, which adds a huge number of the most popular mods to the game, including hundreds of new and innovative items for you to play with.
